Arrive into San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital city and make your way to your hotel, located in San Jose downtown where you spent your first night on your Costa Rican Adventure. Hotel Tryp Sabana (AAA) - 2 nights (B)
Today , after breakfast enjoy a morning hike through the spectacular scenery of Poas Volcano National Park. Walking just 15 minutes from the visitor's center, the main crater supplies guests with a spectacular view. At almost a mile in diameter (1.6 km), the crater's rain-fed sulfuric pool still bubbles and emits smoke into the air, reminding us of its imposing activity. Although the last major eruption was in 1910, visitors can still see geysers explode into the air up to 820 ft (250 m) high. In the afternoon we embark on a city tour of San Jose inclduing a guided tour of the city's Gold museum.
This morning we will be picked up early at the hotel and we board a short flight of about 25 minutes to Tortuguero. Tortuguero (translation "Land of Turtles") is one of Costa Rica's most popular eco-tourism destinations, the canals and rivers of Tortuguero National Park are a study in rainforest, freshwater and marine biology. Upon arrival at the lodge we will have breakfast as we prepare for our day of activities. These include boat tours along the canals and nature walks. We return to the lodge in the afternoon and relax by the pool or go for a walk along the beach.

On arrival to the Arenal area we check in to our hotel and then visit the volcanic thermal mineral pools where we can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak and a delicious dinner.
Arenal's perfecty symmetrical shape make it a sightseer's dream while its abundance of outdoor activities make it an easy place to check things off your must do Costa Rica list.
Arenal Paraiso Hotel (AAA) - 2 nights - Swimming Pool (B)
Arenal - La Fortuna area
This morning after a hearty breakfast we get to challenge ourselves with the best half day class 2-3 rafting closest to the Arenal Volcano. After a safety briefing and paddling instruction we don lifejackets and helmets and we are off. We paddle through fun and safe rolling rapids with names like "Morning coffee" and "Rock around the Croc" and then we play in tranquil pools in an isolated rainforest river canyon. Hopefully we will get to see lots of wildlife from monkeys and sloths to tropical birds such as Ospreys and Toucans.
The afternoon is spent at leisure to enjoy the area and there are optional tours you can join or simply relax and enjoy the hotel's facilities.
Monteverde; Manuel Antonio
This morning after breakfast we continue our tour of Costa Rica as we head to the Central Pacific Coast. Enroute we will enjoy a Jungle Crocodile Safari. The Big River of Tarcoles offers the opportunity to observe American crocodiles over 4 metres long as well as iguanas and basilisks in their natural environment. There are also more than a hundred species of bird available to be spotted and we will all be supplied with a bird spotting guide. Specilized guides accompany us and are able to answer all our questions and enlighten us as to the biology of the crocodiles and the diverse aspects of the refuge's ecology.
The Central Pacific Coast encompasses exuberant tropical forests, green hills, vibrant sea and pristine beaches. The vegetation changes dramatically from transitional forest in its northern section to pure rainforest in the southern part. The food here is great with freshly caught seafood and spiny lobster the specialities of the region.
