During our week here on our family tour, there’s plenty of time to make the most of the many activities available. Snorkel warm waters, sail around the Lycian Coast in a traditional gulet and stay in adventure-filled Fethiye on this Turkish family adventure.
Today is arrival day and you are free to arrive at any time and get to know Fethiye. There will be a welcome meeting at 6 pm.
With Lycian rock tombs carved into cliffs, a beautiful coastline and a renowned market, Fethiye is a laidback, friendly town full of wonderful Turkish cuisine and culture.
Rebin Beach Hotel - Swimming pool
This morning after breakfast we drive for about half an hour to Saklikent Gorge where we spend the morning. The gorge is a spectacular place and in the summer you can walk in between the steep sculpted walls soaring high above with your feet cooled by the water and the walls shielding you from the sun. There are cafes and restaurants setup on pontoons over the water and it is a lovely place to enjoy. After lunch we head back to Fethiye to explore the town or relax by the pool.

Today we head to a nearby water park for a day of family fun and frolics in nearby Oludeniz. It has 9 slides, a kid's pool, wave pool and the main swimming pool. There are restaurants and cafes with cold drinks, ice-creams as well as Turkish national food ‘gozleme’ and pancakes. There are also lockers and safety deposit boxes. Cash is not used in the water park – you can load your money to your Oludeniz Water World Aquapark card and then you can buy drinks and food via this card. Therefore, you do not have to take money in the pool or slides.

Xanthos, Patara and Letoon
Today is an exciting and full day. After a hearty breakfast we depart early and drive for just over one hour to the site of the greatest city in Lycian history, Xanthos. The city dates back to 8th century and has a pretty horrible history. After exploration of the city we head to Patara Beach, rightfully considered one of the most beaches in Turkey. After a swim here and a picnic lunch we will continue on to Letoon, the sacred cult centre of Lycia.

This morning we'll step aboard our gulet, for two days of idyllic relaxation. There’s no firm plan – much depends on the tides and local conditions. Our days are usually spent cruising between the little coves and islands that dot this beautiful part of south-west Turkey. Naturally there are plenty of opportunities to take a dip in the inviting waters of the Aegean. Parents can sit back, relax and watch the world go by while the kids can emulate their favourite sea-faring heroes.
Leaving Fethiye we will first visit Samanlik where the green pine forests come down to meet the blue sea before heading onto Butterfly Valley. It is a hidden gem of Turkeys Turquoise Coast and is accessible only by boat or via the Lycian Way walking trail. The Valley has only been visited in the last twenty or so years before that it was reletively untouched and unknown. Luckily due to the valley being inaccessable it has kept intact and pure.
Overnight on Gulet - 2 Breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners included.
As our cruise comes to an end we eat our final breakfast onboard before disembarking. We head to a local Turkish bath where we can relax and enjoy some traditional treatments and some fun family bonding. Have a scrub, a foam massage , visit the hamam ( Turkish sauna) and enjoy a facial treatment. Our luggage will be stored here and later in the afternoon we will head to the airport for the end of the trip.
In 1958 an earthquake levelled the seaside city of Fethiye (feh-tee-yeh), sparing only the remains of the ancient city of Telmessos. More than half a century on and it is once again a prosperous hub of the western Mediterranean. Despite its booming growth, Fethiye is incredibly low-key for its size, due mostly to the restrictions on high-rise buildings and the transitory nature of the gület (Turkish yacht) business, which brings travellers flocking here April through to October.Fethiye's natural harbour is perhaps the region's finest, tucked away in the southern reaches of a broad bay scattered with pretty islands, in particular Şövalye Adası, glimpsed briefly in the James Bond film Skyfall.
Included on your family holiday in Turkey is a trip for two nights spent aboard a gulet, a traditional wooden sailing boat, cruising the turquoise coast. This is the perfect way to explore the coast and a real highlight of the trip. There’s plenty of time for swimming in quiet bays along the way and, for those who enjoy snorkelling, the water is clear and warm with fantastic visibility.
One of the highlights of the region is Saklikent Gorge, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Splash around in the water and scramble over rocks as you explore the area, and then drive back to Fethiye after lunch. In the afternoon, perhaps race each other up the steps up to the ancient Lycian stone temples, each carved directly from the rock.
Xanthos, Patara and Lethoon
Have a hearty breakfast before setting off to visit one of the most spectacular ancient spots in Lycian history: Xanthos. Everyone in the family will enjoy wandering around this ruined city. Cool off with a dip at nearby Patara Beach and have a picnic lunch before heading on to the sixth century BC religious centre of Letoon.
