Amazon rainforest added to The School Adventure Company’s range of inspiring tours

Teachers keen to swap ‘standard’ school trips across the Channel for something more immersive and inspiring – but without the length or price tag of an expedition - can find a wide range of imaginative itineraries on The School Adventure Company’s new website.

From perfecting language skills while bargaining in the souks of Morocco’s French-speaking Bougmez Valley, to learning about plate tectonics while snorkelling in the fissure between two continents in Iceland, every tour run by The School Adventure Company aims to inspire and educate pupils by bringing the school curriculum to life in an engaging way.

Tours are tailored to meet each school’s specific requirements and to support classroom learning in subjects including art, the classics, enrichment, geography, history, modern foreign languages, religious studies and science.

New itineraries include the Biology School Trip to Ecuador (10 days from £1,390pp excl. flights), which offers pupils the chance to journey into the Amazon rainforest for a life-changing experience with the indigenous Huaorani tribe. As well as learning about the Amazon’s plants, birdlife and wildlife from their local guides, pupils stay in an award-winning eco-lodge, are taught traditional hunting methods, and take a ‘toxic tour’ to learn about the Huaorani tribe’s fight against oil exploration.

Other popular itineraries closer to home include The School Adventure Company’s Iceland School Trip, which is designed to bring geography studies to life and its Morocco School Trip, which supports enrichment, religious studies and geography classes.

“If you’ve ever practiced your language skills on holiday, got up close to incredible wildlife on a safari, or gazed in wonder at the artistry of a building like the Taj Mahal, you’ll know that there’s no greater classroom than the world we live in,” said Antony Barton from The School Adventure Company.

“Just because school trips are educational, it doesn’t mean they have to be bland or boring. For nearly 20 years, we’ve been taking families on adventure holidays all over the world and we’ve used that experience to create a really unique range of trips that will inspire teachers and pupils alike,” he added.

All of The School Adventure Company’s tours are accompanied throughout by an English speaking local group leader and adhere to stringent health and safety standards, with full risk assessment for all elements of the trip including accommodation, vehicles and equipment.

Free teacher places are available and teacher familiarisation trips can be arranged to either Turkey or Morocco from £199pp, which is fully refundable if the school makes a booking.
