We'll be happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). If you're going to be late, please inform the hotel reception. We'll be collecting your insurance details and next of kin information at this meeting, so please ensure you have all these details to provide to your leader.

We drive to Þingvellir (Parliament Plaines), the location of the old parliament and ageological phenomenon.

From there we drive to the Geyser geothermal area for aspouting hot spring and to Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, where on a sunny day youcan see a rainbow in the spray above the waterfall.

The geyser is something that defines Iceland so much that this name has become synonymous with this spectacular occurance and today we will visit them ourselves. From the ancient Icelandic world  'geysa', meaning to gush, this is now the name that is given to a high pressure discharge of water from the land the world over

Glacier Lagoon

Glacier Lagoon

We start the day with visiting the Eyjafjallajokull Volcano Visitors Center beforedriving through the lava of the Laki eruption in 1782-1783 and the black sands towards the oasis at Skaftafell national park close to Vatnajokull, Europe's biggest glacier.

From there we drive the Glacier Lagoon (Jokulsarlon) for a boat tour between the icebergs. The Skaftafel National Park contains some of Icelands finest scenery with a rugged landscape of glaciers and mountains, there are no roads in the park but a series of hiking trails allows you to explore the area. We are following in the footsteps of James Bond in "Die another Day" and Lara Croft in "Tomb Raider" which were filmed in this region. Take a boat trip on the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon, moving between the huge natural ice sculptures as they float past us on their way out to sea is quite magical - watch out for wildlife such as seals, eider ducks and maybe a jumping salmon.

Today drive through the beautiful scenery of Iceland's South Shore and stop by therocks of Reynisdrangar and Solheimajokull glacier.

We will then visit the FolkMuseum of Skogar. From Skogar whe will visit the waterfalls Skogarfoss andSeljarlandsfoss before driving to our overnight stay.

Today we head to Reykjavik but on our way we will go underground for some excitingcave exploring (approx 4 hours).

You will see the magical underground rock formationsthat lava erruptions have left behind. It is a great way to learn how iceland was created.

In the afternoon you will hike around Hengill Volcano. The volcano is still active, asdisplayed by the many hot springs and fumaroles around it, but it has not errupted for2000 years. It is an important source of power for the south of the island. There is achance to bathe in a warm river - just for fun as a scientific experiment you will boil anegg in the hot water here.

Today is left free for you to explore by yourselves or take optional activities. You might like to go horse riding along the peninsula or take a boat cruise around the islands in the bay.

This morning we will visit one of the most famous and instantly recognisable thermal springs in the world, the Blue Lagoon.

This is a geothermal spa caused by silica and sulphur in the ground. Temperatures in the swimming area can reach as high as 40 degrees, so if you do decide that you want to take a dip, make sure you are prepared for the heat!

The lagoon is known for having healing properties, so after a long soak here you may come out feeling renewed and invigoratedAfter the dip we head to the airport and your flight home.
