Tourists 'are pouring back into Egypt'
Egypt's tourism trade suffered a blow during the high-profile revolutions of 2011, but it seems that travellers are now returning to the destination in their droves.
The north African country has been very popular among holidaymakers for decades, with areas like Sharm el Sheikh held in particularly high esteem.
Cairo is also at the top of most people's itinerary when they head to this part of the world, as it is home to the historical pyramids.
According to the Egyptian Tourist Authority, the number of people taking Egypt holidays in the first quarter of 2012 grew by 32 per cent compared with the same period in 2011.
More than 2.5 million visitors have explored the nation in the first three months of the year. Chairman of the tourism board Amr El Ezaby believes this speaks volumes for the country's long standing reputation as one of the finest travel hotspots in the world.
"These figures reflect the gradual and continuous improvement witnessed by the tourism sector in Egypt," he remarked.
