Jordan concert will celebrate work of Abdel Halim Hafez

Jordanians are only too keen to celebrate the work of the most talented Arab singers and few were as popular as the great Abdel Halim Hafez.

He was regarded as one of the finest Arab performers of his generation and he managed to write more than 260 songs in his career - something that is unheard of today.

The singer was also lined up to star in five movies, but sadly he died before filming took place, but the legacy he left behind still lives on.

People taking Jordan holidays next week can see what all the fuss is about, as a special concert is being held in Amman to mark the 35th anniversary of his death.

The show - which has been organised by the Amman Arab Music Ensemble & Amman Sinfonietta - will be held at the Al Hussein Cultural Centre on April 2nd.

A number of talented musicians will take to the stage to perform a selection of Halim Hafez's tunes and it promises to be a memorable occasion, as the Egyptian was hugely popular in Jordan.
