Flight figures highlight demand for foreign holidays
Heathrow airport saw record numbers of passengers pass through its terminals in January 2012, new figures have suggested.
Clearly, the demand for adventure holidays is high among Britons who are desperate to escape the bleak winter weather in the UK.
A total of 5.2 million people took a flight during the month - which was a 2.3 per cent improvement on January 2011.
The London facility is owned by BAA and the company also revealed that its other UK airports saw traffic increase throughout the four-week period, with 7.5 million passengers leaving or entering Britain in total.
European and North American destinations proved to be very popular and BAA chief executive Colin Matthews believes that there is potential for these figures to grow even further in the future.
Holidaymakers are spoiled for choice when booking an adventurous trip and many more travellers are finding African countries increasingly appealing, especially those that offer great safari excursions.
