Delhi to stage WTA 2012 Grand Final

Delhi has been chosen as the host city for the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final on December 12th 2012.

This is quite a coup for the Asian country, as the ceremony is widely referred to as the Oscars of the travel industry and all eyes will be on the Indian city when the event takes place.

Organisers of the awards suggested the metropolis is a fitting place to stage such a high-profile occasion, as India holidays are becoming increasingly popular and Delhi's luxury hospitality sector is enjoying a golden age.

There is every chance that India will win at least one accolade during the ceremony, as it has secured a number of nominations across a variety of categories, including the Asia's Leading Destination section.

President and founder of the WTA Graham Cooke said the number of international tourists heading to India has doubled in the past decade.

"The selection of our hosts is fundamental to the success of our awards programme, and Delhi possesses all the ingredients to rise to the challenge of hosting our Grand Final," he remarked.
