Bono praises delicious Peruvian food

Peru's strong reputation for being a hub of gastronomic excellence has been enhanced even further, after U2 frontman Bono insisted that he loved the cuisine he tried during his recent Peru holiday.

The South American country has become a leading light in the global food industry in recent years and Lima in particular is now full of top class restaurants.

Earlier this year, Peruthisweek.com reported that celebrity chef Gaston Acurio plans to make his new eatery a "global landmark" by wowing food critics with his stunning array of dishes.

Another accomplished Peruvian cook, Nacho Celis, told El Comercio that Bono was extremely impressed with the fare that was on offer when he visited the glamorous Hotel Sol y Luna in Urubamba.

He said that the singer had requested a spicy meal and so the chef set about creating a dish that contained plenty of chillies and rocotos.

"He said he had never eaten Peruvian food, and he loved what he tried," Mr Celis told the news provider.
