Family adventure holidays 'popular pursuit'

Young travellers are looking to take more adventure holidays with their parents, if one report is anything to go by.

The makers of an upcoming online reality programme, The Gap Year: Challenge New Zealand, found over 25 per cent of people aged between 19 and 25 would be happy for their parents to join them on a sojourn.

According to the research, older tourists are also keen to take these types of trips, with 57 per cent stating they should be offered a sabbatical by their employer to take part in this type of holiday.

Other results of the poll included that comedians Stephen Fry and Alan Carr would be popular companion choices, along with Friends actress Jennifer Aniston.

Discussing the aspects of a trip travellers look for, executive producer of the programme-makers Andrew Robertson said: "Wildlife, culture and adventure sports all rated highly in this research."

Adventure Company offers family breaks to destinations across the world, from Inca Trail holidays in Peru to Nile cruises in Egypt and safari breaks in Tanzania.
