'Important discovery' could inspire holiday to Egypt

Those interested in archaeology may agree it is currently a very exciting time to book a holiday to Egypt.

A number of discoveries have been made in the country in recent weeks – and the latest may give experts a better idea of the nation's Babylonian Kingdom.

Researchers from the Austrian Archaeological Centre found a cuneiform seal impression in Tel El-Daba, a destination found north of Cairo.

Head of the mission Dr Manfred Bietak said the find is of great importance, explaining they are the oldest remains of their kind to be found in the country.

"They are evidence that the Hyksos had foreign relations and extensive connections in the Near East that at this time reached southern Mesopotamia," he explained.

In recent weeks, vice-minister of culture and secretary general of the supreme council of antiquities Dr Zahi Hawass has announced the discovery of tombs in Luxor and new finds in Saqqara.

Travellers have a range of options for embarking on their own path of discovery in Egypt with Adventure Company.

People eager to explore the nation's ancient ruins could book onto the Felucca and Pharaohs family jaunt, or choose the Nile River Adventure sojourn.

Pyramids to Petra, the Desert Experience and Active in the Sinai Teenage Adventure may also be worth considering.
