India holidays news: Wildlife protection plan 'is a success'
Wildlife enthusiasts may wish to book India holidays with The Adventure Company after it was suggested that wildlife protection plans in the nation are proving successful.
Divisional forest officer for wildlife RK Singh told The Times of India that deforestation and poaching have been a problem along the country's Himalayan border with Nepal for some time.
As a consequence, he explained that ex-army men and local villagers have been deployed in the area in a bid to protect the tigers and other animals which inhabit the region.
Creating the so-called Tiger Protection Force in February 2008 has provided "encouraging" results, he commented.
"We have got extra manpower which is available round-the-clock for patrolling and other preventive works," Mr Singh added.
Travellers who are keen to see the Indian tigers and the Himalayan foothills for themselves may like to consider one of The Adventure Company's holidays to the sub-continent.
