What is your travel experience/background?
I started travellng from 14 years of age around Nepal, then got an opportunity to join the tourism industry when I was 18. After that I had more chances to travel around Nepal. Overall I have good experience in the travel field.
How long have you been leading trips?
I have been leading tours from 2007.
What is your favourite activity/even on the trips you lead?
My favourite activity is to do rafting in the white water river, to do sightseeing around Kathmandu, giving people information about local places and having a bit of a joke sometimes.
What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that I get the opportunity to learn many things from many different personalities.
What is the funniest thing that has ever happened on a tour?
Once on the way to Everest Base Camp I pointed out Everest and told the group that Everest is dark because it was burnt by fire about two years ago. Some of them believed me and the next day they asked, 'How did that happen?'.
In your mind, what is the best place to visit in your country?
I would say most of the places in Nepal are best to visit, but if it is really to be said, then I would choose the Everest region that we call the Mahalangur Himalayan Range. It has 156 mountains over 6,000m with Buddhist cultures.
In your mind, what is the most interesting custom in your country?
Nepal has lots of interesting customs. In my view one of the most interesting is arranged marriages.
In your mind, what is the most important phrase to know?
Definitely 'Namaste' and 'Dhanyabadh' (hello and thank you respectively). Also 'Daal Bhat and Jam Jam (Nepalese food and let's go!)
In your mind, when is the best time to visit and why?
The best time to visit Nepal would be in October because of the nice weather and the greatest Hindu festivals (Dashain and Tihar), which reflect our Nepalese culture and can be joined in with to a certain extent.
In your mind, what are the most important items to pack for your tour?
The most important items to pack are a water bottle, because buying plastic water bottles has a negative impact on the environment. Also one or two rubbish bags are useful to have on a trek or tour.
Please come up with a short statement that describes your experience.
I have been leading treks and tour for The Adventure Company for four years. Within those four yeas I have learnt more of Western cultures, getting knowledge from different personalities and clients and in turn, let them know about our country.
Can you tell us any interesting facts about your region?
Pokhara, situated at approximately 800m height, is comparable to the heavens in terms of its beauty. It is recognised as the 'City of Seven Lakes'. It has Phewa Lake, which is the most beautiful lake of Nepal. The view of several mountains can also be seen from Pokhara, which is rich in natural beauty.
