Hi, anyone else going on this tour who'd be interested in making contact at this stage?

Hi Andrea and Charles,

I'm heading out on this tour as well. I'm going with my boyfriend Gresh (not his real name but how he likes to be known!!)
Where are you from? And how are the plans going? Is this a first trip to India for you?
We've reached the "what do we pack" stage!
Only 2.5 weeks to go - very exciting.

Looking forward to meeting you - I wonder how many are on this trip.

Great to hear from you, Becky & Gresh

We live in rural North Devon. Plans OK, but we do have a few things to discuss. About to go out for most of the day (horse riding on Exmoor), but will make contact again this evening (Wednesday). When I phoned yesterday morning, I was told 8 people on tour, including us and presumably you. We're ancient (mid-60s) but reasonably fit.

Hi again Becky

To answer your other questions. We went to Goa in 1994 and loved it, and passed through Delhi for just one day's sightseeing in 1995 en route to Nepal. We haven't had any serious problems (yet!) but you might be interested in the following.

We are a bit confused over anti-malaria pills. Lonely Planet strongly recommend it for R, and Rough Guide say 'absolutely essential'. But both our local health clinic and the web site recommended by Adventure Company say low risk, not recommended...so we aren't taking any. Are you?

We read that theft of luggage on trains is commonplace, that chains are often provided, therefore padlocks advisable. But AC say they've not heard of this and have never had stolen luggage, so again we aren't taking padlocks.

The only thing AC have asked for which we've queried is soft cases/bags (I mean our main luggage, not our day bags - we'll use rucksacks for those). We said we didn't have large soft bags, and didn't want to buy them. We do have extremely light but hardish cases, and we will try and make them as light as possible. Amy Crew said that would be OK.

How are your plans going? Charles

Just a word of warning re luggage. If your trip includes an overnight train you may need to fit your bag into a smallish space or share a bunk with it.
